What To Do When Your Motivation Tries To Make A Run For It
/Staying motivated all the time is sometimes difficult to do. Illness, stress, deadlines, kids, coming back from vacation…. these are all saboteurs that can jump up, pull you under the water and sink your fitness.
This past month I’ve been stressed with work, deadlines, kids sports, appointments, documents and the list goes on and on. You’ve been there, done that and may even still be doing that. Several times I was tempted to skip class and continue working just to get it done and over with. But then that voice pops up, “you’ll feel worse if you don’t go”. And that voice is a GENIUS.
I had to remind myself that my class time is MY TIME. And I always leave feeling better than when I came in. ALWAYS. I use this time to free my mind, focus on myself, get some good laughs with teammates and get my crazy out. At the end, I always think “I’m SO glad I came”. My 1 hour here is the best therapy I could give myself. It makes me a better person, mom, wife, professional and friend.

Lately my schedule has been really off. So I started going to classes that I don’t normally go to- to help me get all my work done, make efficient use of my time AND get a killer workout. In doing this, I found something unexpected (but not really). I got to hang out with incredible people that I don’t get to see very often. We got to catch up and have some seriously good laughs! They told me their stories and I got to tell some of my own. There was top notch trash talking. I may have even snorted with laughter at some point. But I left with a body full of kick-ass endorphins and mental hugs. It felt amazing and I patted myself on the back.
So listen up. Your journey here is an INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF. It is your responsibility to take the time to develop your happiness, so you can best serve others. Investing in your fitness is an example of self-love and you must love yourself before you can expect others to love you.

Get going!
